MYKONOS with les petits
‘’I travel light. I think the most important thing is to be in a good mood and enjoy life, wherever you are’’ Diane von Furstenberg
Mykonos repeat! Yes, indeed and now with two little cocos.
It was August 2008 and my french husband decided to book our honeymoon in Mauritius. Everything was set to go, except one thing, my visa! I am Colombian, so I need a visa pretty much everywhere I go. Long story short, we diverted our travels to the island of Mykonos, Greece. We loved it so much that we decided to come back nine years later with "les petits". What has changed?
I am sharing this post and my travels because it is completely possible to have fun and still share some family time in this island. Here are some tips and tricks to master Mykonos like a Greek with "les petits".
Let’s start with the pick of the hotel – key! We decided to stay at Mykonos no 5 *. What a scenery and inspiration to all things lovely and chic. Located in the heart of ORNOS and just 15 minutes away from Mykonos town, this place just blew our minds away. From the attention to detail, to the service to my cocos it was a complete YES, YES and YES. Most importantly, it was my inspiration and obsession for stucco, which is now being incorporated in some of our projects.
Once settled, we did all the fancy pantsy beach clubs in town and let me clarify that the kids
were welcomed like special guests. Some of our favorites beaches were (1) Principote Beach (2) Jackie’o and (3) Scorpio. Important note is to book in advance as these places tend to get packed in minutes.
The night came and Mykonos became our best friend! Our wonderful hotel booked us a nanny (which was a primary school teacher in Athens – completely amazing) and we had time to enjoy Mykonos by night. Our favorite spots included (1) Interni (2) Remezzo and (3) Ling ling.
One thing to note is that whether it is Mykonos or any other place, do not limit yourself because you have kids, on the contrary embrace it, life is too short.
Hope you like this.
